Rationale

My main influence was the webcomic Stand Still Stay Silent, by Minna Sundberg, particularly the dreamworld sequences with the negative space around the panels than flow with the action of the story. The flowing, painterly panelling I used suit the fairytale genre, and give the impression of time passing quickly and montages - and a lot of time passes throughout the story especially when condensed into ten pages. I also chose a textured, slightly creamy paperstock to print it because of  the fairytale genre

I challenged myself to use colour palettes that aren't so representational all the time, think about the overall colours of the story/pages and paint all on the same layer, which I don't usually do. I used Stand Still Stay Silent as inspiration for the colour palettes and painting style - though I kept mine more pastelly as opposed to Stand Still Stay Silent's darker aesthetic, as that is somewhat postapocalyptic and horror, whereas this is a fairytale. I'm really happy with how the overall colour and style ended up.

I did a minimal cover and inside pages to contrast the busy comic pages. Though I did plan the layout of my pages, I didn't really plan what would go on the inside covers until the end - I think I should've done that earlier.

Some tests I did for the start and end section - font size, adding texture to the corners, etc. I wasn't sure about the font being readable in a whole sentence- but after this I managed to get rid of the swooshes after every word and that helped.

Sketchup

I don't think I ever posted my sketchup models on here - I used these as reference for a lot of it.

A test on the paperstock I think I might use. (on a scrap piece). It works nice, though the ink rubbed off a little? I'm not sure if that's partly because it's a reused piece of paper but I'll probably do a test of this again later.

I also made the cover a bit more zoomed out.

I printed it all out as a test. Stapled initially, but when I got home I stitched it with green thread, as a link to the weaving she does. But I decided it doesn't work, because it draws away from the clean minimal cover and also is disruptive in the inside.
